John Stith Pemberton

Dr. John Stith Pemberton the American soldier, inventor and pharmacist was born in 1830. He was the man who invented Coca-Cola in 1886. He had also invented many other syrups and medicines. When alcohol was banned in Atlanta in 1885, Pemberton had to change the formula of his French Wine of Coca in which he use to add alcohol, so instead of adding wine in his formula he added citric acid, sugar and oils of many fruits to the drink. This brings up the famous Coca-Cola. Due to its main ingredients, coca leaves and the kola nut, the drink was given the name Coca-Cola.
